Meg Russell is an aerialist and contortionist based out of Portland, Oregon. She began her circus journey in 2010 at the Circus Project, as a means of combining aspects of her two loves: theater and competitive cheerleading. She quickly advanced to become a member of the Circus Project professional training company. This training lead to coaching introductory classes at the Circus Project and performing with the Circus Project, Dreamescape Theater, Wanderlust Circus, and Night Flight Aerial.
In 2012, Meg attended Scuola di Cirko Vertigo in Turin, Italy where she studied theater, dance, circus history, equilibrium, aerial, and contortion. Upon her return to the Pacific Northwest she began coaching static and dance trapeze, aerial silks, and flexibility at Night Flight, the Circus Project, and AWOL Dance Collective.
In addition to coaching and training, she performs as an independent contractor with Prismagic, the Steep and Thorny Way to Heaven, and Animate Objects Physical Theater, and is a core aerialist at Dante’s Cabaret. Meg specializes in contortion and trapeze, and she loves finding new and interesting ways to blend disciplines.
